UK Government to invest £65m in EV street-charging company Connected Kerb

The Chancellor giveth, the Chancellor taketh away – but there was at least a smidgen of good news from Rachel Reeves, to encourage electric car take-up among reluctant buyers this week.

The UK Government will invest £65million in EV street-charging company Connected Kerb, which has already installed more than 10,000 chargers on streets and at supermarkets to help motorists who can’t charge at home.

Renault UK managing director Adam Wood welcomed the move but said drivers need more incentives to accelerate the switch to electric ahead of the proposed 2030 ban on petrol and diesel cars

Wood said: ‘This year is a pivotal one in the transition to EVs, as more affordable cars like our own Renault 5 go on sale.
