Deshaun Watson met remotely with Texans new head coach David Culley on Friday, but hasn’t changed his mind about wanting a trade, according to both ESPN’s Dan Graziano and the Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson.

Watson has been upset with the Texans since the end of a disastrous 4-12 season. Sources close to Watson have said he felt betrayed by the franchise when – in his mind – CEO Cal McNair didn’t listen to his input before hiring Nick Caserio as general manager. The Texans tried to keep Watson in the loop on the head coaching hire, but reports are that Watson wouldn’t take calls from the Texans as they conducted their search and hired David Culley.

At Culley’s introductory press conference in January, the new head coach insisted Watson will be his quarterback.

“Deshaun Watson is a Houston Texan; he’s the quarterback of the Houston Texans,” Culley said. “That’s all that I was concerned about and that’s all I knew and whatever has been said about what he wanted to do or didn’t want to do, all I know is this … He is a Houston Texan and I want him to be a Houston Texan, and the reason I’m in this position today is because I knew he is going to be a Houston Texan.”

On Thursday, Watson went back to an old habit of tweeting cryptic lyrics from Future. This time, he took a line from Future’s 2016 song “Never Forget,” tweeting: “Loyalty is everything. Don’t you EVER forget it.”

At least Watson and Culley have finally spoken. Now, we’ll see if Watson and the Texans can mend fences and continue on together for the rest of the four-year, $156 million contract extension he signed in September.
